Thank you for your intrest in Elvira's Cuban Cuisine! We are a family-owned commissary operated restaurant, named after my abuela Elvira. At a very young age, I developed a passion for Cuban & Puerto Rican food because of my family heritage & opening a Cuban/Puerto Rican restaurant became a dream of mine. My dad, abuelos (grandparents), their parents, & their entire family tree traces back to Cuba, where they were born & raised. Their family immigrated to Puerto Rico during my dad's formative years, where most of the family still resides.
Starting at the tender age of 1, we began taking annual family trips to visit my dad's family in Puerto Rico. Recently, I started taking the family my husband & I created, which consists of 3 little boys, to Puerto Rico; a place I call my "second home". The island will always hold such a special place in my heart & was such a huge part of my childhood, so much so that I want to give the same to my children.
My menu items are authentic Cuban/Puerto Rican dishes with the recipes being handed down through generations. The recipe for my Cuban Empanadillas, for example, has been in my family for 150 or so years. I learned to cook these recipes by helping my dad & my abuela cook them starting at a very early age. I'm honored & excited to bring a taste of Cuba & Puerto Rico to the Northern Colorado community & I look forward to serving you.
